Food for the soul food for the body

Lake Atitlan Life Style doesn't offers fancy restaurant or opera as some people would like. But some times to times interesting events are the occasion to travel  the lake and discover or rediscover villages or organization working for the collective good.
San Juan La Laguna Festival Maya
Let's talk first of all of the San Juan Festival hold this saturday in San Juan La Laguna. Starting early at 0600 by a Mayan ceremony receiving the first light of the sun, followed by a craft show of the difference specialities San Juan is famous for (natural dies, natural medecines...) , opening of the 13 murals painted by the best primitives painters of San Juan La Laguna, explaining the signification of the Oxlaju B'aktun. Then presentation of the Mayan "soccer" game., followed by a Gastronomic Festival with locals dishes and the day went on with the presentation of various musical groups...
















Talking about food, well come to enjoy the 2d Gastronomic Food festival of the Tecnical Center for Professional Training
in Santa Cruz La Laguna. This project is amply supported by the expat community of Santa Cruz La Laguna and the goal is to provide to the young population and adult one alternative profesional training to be able to diversify their income.
This day you will be able to enjoy for the modic amount of  $ 16, a buffet with 36 dishes, 3 kind of dessert and 9 kind of drinks. Come and enjoy their effort.

2d gastronomic Festival of CECAP
Santa Cruz La Laguna







































After a good food day lets enjoy sone real music cruising the lake. On december 1st, from 12:00 pm to 8 pm Festival Atitlan will be presenting a special Blues and Jazz event. 150 people will be picked up from Panajachel main dock to cruise over the Bambu Hotel in Santiago Atitlan where they will listen to the sweet blues guitar of Carlos Funk, Dance to the Marco Trio Electric and  get the opportunity savor some of the Bambu's excellent brick pizza, then  a short cruise to Posada de Santiago for the Blue Rocket , a new Orleans style band, Imox Jazz Quartet and Otis Brown and the blu Dawgs. The Posada will be serving up a Gourmet Barbecue then the boat will take the satisfied cruisers back to Panajachel.
There is lille amount of tickets available so hurry up.
